The Peoria County Jail, managed by the Peoria County Sheriff s Office, can accommodate up to 235 inmates. Established in 1985, the jail has correctional officers who supervise the daily routine of the inmates. Located in Peoria, Ill., the jail features a closed-circuit microwave video bonding system, digital computer-driven mug shot system and computerized booking machine. The Peoria County Sheriff s Office works in partnership with the community to recognize and resolve problems and to fulfill the law enforcement needs of the citizens. It serves a population of more than 183,000 people who live in an area of over 630 square miles. The Peoria County Sheriff s Office has nearly 200 employees. .
