Calendar Girls, June 2017, great play, well done, small theatre which I love (90 seats), fun staff, very enjoyable evening.

Saw I Do, I Do! in production at Newport Theater Arts Center. The 90-seat house could use a little updating, the lobby is a bit dingy, but the seats are not uncomfortable. The production was simple--a musical with recorded accompaniment for the singers, not live instrumentation. The actors were adequate, this is, after all, not Broadway, but it was not an impressive production. It is hard to judge a theater based on one event. Would say that to be fair I would want to see more of the productions before recommending for or against attending. The price was inexpensive, and the staff was very attentive and pleasant.

Recently moved to the area and discovered a wonderful venue for live theatrical performance, saw Steel Magnolias and then Uncle Vanya. Both were excellent productions with marvelous acting and direction. The casts are a combination of skilled performers and new talent. It is an intimate little theatre, offering just less than 90 seats, pre-show wine is available and during intermission, more wine, cookies and coffee. On chilly nights they provide blankets to keep you cozy. Next performance is 1776, a musical-May 27-June 26. Free parking, great night views of Newport, and easy access in safe neighborhood. Affordable live theatre!

You can't find experiences like this anymore! Small town feel in a very upscale area. Not a bad seat in the house! Great acting and directing. Just saw Steel Magnolias. Loved it! Different from the movie in a very good way. Looking forward to going back! Hidden gem!

This small theatre (around 96 seats) hosts some excellent productions. It is local theatre but the talent pool is rich in experience and quality. I just saw Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution and the actors' performances were generally exceptional. The director for this show is a long-time member of the Newport-Mesa community and her depth of experience shows in this popular work. If you're looking for an enjoyable evening of entertainment, check out the offerings of this theatre; you won't be disappointed at the quality of the production.
