The Carnegie-Mellon campus tour was tremendous. The leader was a former architect professor at the university. He had all the insights on the older buildings and the details you would never know unless you had a tour guide. We went to many of the older buildings and campus grounds. It lasted a bit longer, but nobody minded it was so fascinating.

A great way to learn about different areas of PIttsburgh — history, insider tips, architecture, culture and religions. For this tour, we walked main streets in Squirrel Hill and learned about the history of many of the buildings, still in use today. A special treat from Gaby et Jules on Forbes — macarons — choose your own flavor. I will definitely be back to pick up special desserts! The tour ended with a visit to Congregation Beth Shalom to learn about the building, history of the congregation, and many traditions, especially the Sukkot celebration of the harvest. The tour guide for Doors Open Pittsburgh was knowledgeable and interesting. And,the Beth Shalom tour featured the wife of the former rabbi for the congregation who answered all of our many questions. Door Open Pittsburgh — always a good choice for anPittsburgh exploration.

Our guide was absolutely the most knowledgeable tour guide we’ve ever come across. He not only gave us the gambling history of Fifth Avenue but provided us with extra material via a website that he had created. It was a fascinating trip to the past and we can’t wIt to do the Squirrel Hill Tour.

I've been on several neighborhood self guided tours from Door Open and they have been very good; organized and informative. This was my first docent led tour and it was excellent. The tour guide was not your average docent he had actually researched and written books on the subject. He was informative and entertaining. Plus you had access to observation points on the skyscrapers of downtown. Beautiful open views of the Burgh! Great way to spend some time!
