We have stayed at Tru Hotels before. They we bright and modern, but not chaotic. The moment I stepped inside this property, my brain asked, what is this place? It looked like a chaotic mess of clutter. The desk is an island in the middle of the large room. The room colors looked like they wanted to use all the crayon in the box to color it. The textures and shapes were all different as were the spaces as you walked around the desk. The overstimulation and distraction was unsettling, nothing related to relaxing. There was no flow or theme other than chaos. The room hallway had green on one side, teal on the other and blue in the carpet. All I could think was , why on earth? Once on the room I was surprised by the tiny size and lack of space with only one king bed. No dressers. No closet. Minimalistic. A very narrow table too attached to the wall held the tv. An open shelf built over the ac unit. Held some of our luggage. The mini fridge had a top over it to hold other luggage. A rolling table maybe 12” wide slid under the tv counter/shelf with a rolling chair under it. However, if you pulled either out you couldn’t get to the other side if the bed. The bathroom was ok. If all you want is to sleep in a bed, this will work.Cleanliness? Ok, with some missed areas. Breakfast? Ok. My husband who eats everything thought the scrambled eggs were bad. I opted for a in the shell hard boiled egg, watery hot oatmeal, and two machine made rubbery pancakes. The staff was nice enough. They have a nice filtered water bottle filler.

We stayed at the Tru for one night and the evening front desk person was efficient, friendly and when asked for a dinner reservation, he was very helpful. Breakfast was very good and the area was kept clean. Our room was clean and quiet and had a nice sized bathroom.

Room was clean and comfortable though a little small but ok for one night. Bathroom was clean and well stocked. Staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast had a good selection of foods though the typical hotel heat and serve style. Room was also quiet

My comments are directed towards a great staff! Tyris, Bessie, Clarence, and others whose names I can't remember. Tru is a lower tier in the Hilton brand and it's not at the level of a Home 2 Suites or Doubletree but serves a purpose for when someone needs a place to sleep without much more. With Kentucky Derby week upcoming, prices all over town were going up so it was worth staying a little out of the way. For Hilton hhonors members, the rewards and points add up.

I really liked this hotel… easy to get to, clean, new, fresh. The breakfast was varied and tasty. Staff was friendly. Room was basic but I only needed it for a room to sleep in so it worked for my needs (and the price was right). The lobby seems to have an emphasis on games, nooks for working or talking, etc. I was only here for a quick night so I didn’t take advantage of the area. I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could because I did truly like it and would stay here again. My only complaints were bathroom related. The soap/shampoo containers were difficult to use. I like that they don’t have individual (wasteful) soaps and shampoos, but the containers that the liquids are in are difficult to use. You have to squeeze with one hand and put the other hand underneath. I found them difficult to squeeze. Also the hair dryer was really sticky and gross to use. Clearly someone had used product on their hands before they used the hairdryer. It needs to be cleaned. I’d recommend this hotel if you need a place to stay for a nice or two.
