Dating back to the 1820s, Bienville Square has been an integral part of Mobile's history. In 1824, the United State Congress reserved a plot specifically to be used as a city park, and over time the entire block was acquired. This sprawling park has hosted a speech by President Theodore Roosevelt and during World War II the union and laborers of Alabama Drydock and Shipbuilding Company held their meetings here. Currently, Bienville Square hosts a variety of events like Kids Day, Bayfest Music Festival and Jazz in Bienville and is a popular recreational site.

tripadvisorI grew up in Mobile and the charm of feeding the squirrels in Bienville Square was always dear to my heart. I first went to feed the squirrels in Bienville square with my father when I was three years old. It was one of my favorite things to do in Mobile. Today my husband drove me from our home in Mississippi to feed the squirrels in the recently updated square. Unfortunately, most of the squirrels are gone. The fountain is nice and the flowers are lovely but for me the charm is gone.
MoreThe fountain and some of the monuments around the park are nice, but unfortunately the area could use a little TLC. Many buildings around the square are abandoned.
MoreNice medium size park with paved walkways & a recently restored fountain in the center with benches. Park has restrooms. Paid parking & one electric vehicle charger around perimeter. Walking distance to most attractions & restaurants along Dauphin Street. I love the huge painted Oyster shells.
MoreGreat place to just people watch, relax, and sip a cup of brew. Watch out for the squirrels. You can also feed to squirrels peanuts from the peanut company store.
MorePretty square with a New Orleans feel to it. Eateries, shopping, entertainment, and sight seeing all in a small area to cover. Some things not suitable for kids.
