Reviews
tripadvisorThis hotel is rally showing its age. Although management is doing a great job keeping it up, there are so many tell-tale signs that this is definitey an older property. On our recent stay (repeat customers and Marriott Gold status members here), we were assigned to room 238. It was a double queen. The bathroom layout was great, except the lighting was abysmal. I think the fixtures had a total of 4 25-watt bulbs. The room had a nice full-length mirror -- but the bed was so close in front of it, that one could not use it for it's intended full-length view purpose. Room 238 also was alongside the freeway. In the afternoon, this was fine, as the building seemed to be well insulated. However, about 10 pm each night, the race car drivers revved up their engines and the noise was non-stop until around 2 am! Not great if you are a light sleeper. Like most Marriott propeties these days, the AC/Heat system was horrible! There was absolutely no way to get a comfortable room temperature. IWhen we arrived, the room was aboout 62 degrees and the thermostat was set to 72. No matter where I set the thermostat, the room never held a steady temperature and never stayed at the temperature I set. AND, the wall-mounted (high on the wall) vent system was not helping. No matter how we adjusted the vanes (using the wall controls), the air basted. The air was either hot or cold depending on the whims of the system. And the area right under the fan / vanes was the only area of the room that actually received any circulation. It was, overall, a quite frustrating experience and nowhere near a restful weekend. On the positive side: The staff is very helpful. The area around the hotel is quite convenient, with a Starbucks, Mexican casual restaurant, Massage Envy, more upscale restaurant, etc. And Freeway Access is super easy. If we were to stay there again, I would definitely make sure our room did not back to the freeway, and I would ask for a single king-sized bed in the room.
MoreI stayed at the Fairfield Inn Anaheim Hills this past week to be closer to my workplace - it's a decent hotel, but there are definitely flaws/areas of improvement. It's situated about 30 minutes away from Disneyland, but centrally located near the 91 and 55 freeways. Check-in was efficient - Karina assisted me and was pleasant and patient with my questions and request to be placed away from the 91 freeway. First and foremost - unlike newer Fairfield Inns, this property has exterior corridors that face outwards - towards the parking lot. This is something to keep in mind if noise a concern to you, or controlled access/security at night. Most Fairfield Inns have interior corridors - and properties that require key card access at night - but this one doesn't have any safeguards for that at night, since anyone can walk up the stairs/elevator whether they are an actual guest or not. Noise - this is a huge issue and major factor into why my stay was 3 out of 5 stars. One side of the property faces the busy and chaotic 91 freeway. While the other side is shielded from the 91 - you get the full brunt of any noise that happens in front of your room - since the windows lack any degree of sound insulation. In fact - several times when someone up front was honking their horn - I heard the full effect. The other problem - the doors slam like crazy. I mean, part of it is the fault of the slammer themselves - but you'd think they'd be more mindful to not slam their doors (my neighbor definitely didn't during my stay) - or the property can put either dampeners on the door frames or utilize mechanisms to slow the speed of closure. Room itself was spacious - I had a King Bed which came with a lounge chair, workstation, microwave, coffeemaker and mini fridge. Kudos to this property for the amount of both AC outlets and USB ports scattered around the room. Another plus? Instead of a noisy AC wall unit, the hotel upgraded to more quiet AC units that work efficiently to cool down your room. Bathroom was clean and spacious - there's a lockable sliding door here. No issues with water pressure or hot water. My travel hack - use one of the hangers to clip the curtains close - otherwise you might find nosy people peeking into your room as they walk by. Complimentary hot breakfast in the mornings - this got packed quickly - so I grabbed my selections and headed back to my room. Decent offerings - oatmeal with all the usual toppings, powdered eggs, sausage, fresh fruit and all sorts of juices and coffee. Parking gets full quickly - especially if you come back to the hotel later in the evening. I noticed some people having to park alongside the ledge. I lucked out that my lowly Silver Elite status managed to qualify me to park in one of the few Marriott Bonvoy Elite Member Parking spots. Two elevators to serve the whole property and they were slow. I used the stairs all the other times, but had a cart for check-in and check-out so had to wait for the elevator. Overall - decent stay - really hope they can improve their sound insulation though - would definitely help with future stays.
MoreThis was a hotel for one night on a bus trip. It was a disappointing stay. A bus of 24 came to get checked in. There was nobody at the desk, no number to call. When someone finally showed up after about 30 minutes they did not have us checked in and ready to go. Another 30 minutes to get that done. Definitely not what I expected from this hotel brand.
MoreGenuinely disappointed in this hotel. Took a risk to save a few dollars and was not impressed. We usually stay at the courtyard next door but with high pricing for both during peak time, we opted to save a few hundred dollars. My husband and I agreed that it was not worth it. The beds were so uncomfortable, the towels were so small and like sandpaper, and we heard noises outside all night long. Not to mention the ringing bell at the pool of the hotel next door. I was also not informed that the hotel was under renovation. There was literally no lobby. They turned a hotel room into a makeshift lobby and half the property was being renovated with construction workers everywhere and the most ghetto elevators. They said they “upgraded” us with a new room. The renovations were bare minimum. New floors in the toilet and bath area and new bedding and lighting. Truly just so underwhelmed especially for the price. Come on Marriott. We stay in Marriotts all the time and this one is not it. I also got a text after charging me for a “bio hazardous” material left behind. I called and it was a small chocolate milk stain on the bed from my toddler. They removed it but I was annoyed because I never mentioned the renovations not being mentioned and the disappointing rooms because I didn’t want to be high maintenance and then they charged me for a stupid stain.
