tripadvisorThis memorial is located right next to the state capitol. It honors those who served WWII representing the United States. RIP.
MoreWe stumbled across this after our visit to the State Capitol. It’s in the Capitol grounds, just off the road and is a psi Ole but poignant memorial to those who died in World War 2. Pay your respects
MoreThe memorial was located at the very end of the State Capitol grounds. It was very simply designed with clean lines that really honored all the ~3800 Oregon service members from WWII. Names were etched on 33 foot tall granite. Two benches on each side allowed for longer contemplative visits and the central obelisk added distinct character.
MoreThe Oregon World War II Memorial sits on the grounds of the Capitol Building. Similar to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, it lists the names of Oregonians lost in WWII. The obelisk adds a nice focal point to the monument.
MoreI am certain that this was not the biggest or the mostest by many standards but I was pleased that the community cared enough to honor those that have served and have died in this war. I liked the memorial and the setting that is around it giving me a chance to reflect and take the time to enjoy the freedoms we have today in our Nation. A demonstration was taking place around the Capitol at the time of my visit and it reminded me of the freedoms that these men and women helped keep our freedoms intact... I thank them and all that have served...
