I’ve been a Trouper for the past four years, ever since moving to Connecticut, and it’s truly a special place. With gay bars rapidly disappearing across America, Troupe stands out as a vibrant hub in the Fairfield County LGBTQ+ scene. The owners pour their heart and soul into every aspect of the bar including the programming, music, and atmosphere, and it really shows. The bartenders are warm, welcoming, and genuinely seem to love what they do. From drag shows and burlesque performances to seasonal drink specials, themed parties, and go-go shows, there’s always something happening. Troupe quickly became my go-to spot after discovering it one week into living in CT and I’m so grateful for its existence. Huge shoutout to Casey and Nicholas for the love and tireless work they put into making Troupe429 what it is today—and of course to Johnny, who mixes the meanest elderflower gin and tonic in town.

Troupe 429 is the greatest gay bar in connecticut. the owners are the most compassionate and generous people i know. every single time i go there (which is a lot) it’s the best time ever. the drinks, dance floor and drag are always a 10/10.

Troupe429 is my go-to spot whenever I'm in Connecticut. I always stop when I'm nearby, but my favorite visit was during their Drop Dead Gorgeous Party in 2019, which transported me right back to Mount Rose, Minnesota. This bar has the warmth and charm of the midwest, but with the world class talent you'd only expect in the Sin Cities. The staff makes a mean espresso martini and are salt-of-the-earth kinda folks- the type that would gladly tow your pontoon back to the dock after running out of gas on a sunset cruise.

Troupe429 is by far one of the best places to go out in CT! Their drinks are really good and reasonably priced, you can’t beat the ambiance, and they definitely have the best DJs in CT. Every night there offers different fun experiences like karaoke on Wednesdays, darts on Thursdays, Sienna Says an incredible drag show every Friday, dance parties on Friday and Saturday, and of course Sunday trivia! Whether you’re a CT local or just visiting you should definitely check out Troupe429!
