It took us an hour to get over the shock of our first impression of Crystal Lodge. We were previously unfamiliar with the neighborhood and initially, quite frankly, the place looked seedy. Having to ring a bell to get admitted to the office didn't make a good first impression either - what must this neighborhood be like if they need to lock the door?It isn't seedy - in fact, you can see that they've gone to great effort to update and maintain the motel. Our room was in the back and you can see from the photo that its location was a little off-putting. But the room is one of the cleanest I've ever stayed in and the bathroom one of the most modern and definitely one of the cleanest I've had. A refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and iron and hair dryer. The young man at the front desk has been polite and helpful. And the neighborhood isn’t as bad as our first impression had led us to believe. The main street is too busy traffic-wise, but there aren’t any transients hanging around and it doesn’t feel dangerous. One giant plus – across the street is one of the best Thai restaurants where we’ve ever eaten. The food was absolutely delicious with generous portions and reasonable prices. Especially for the quality of the food. Moon’s Thai restaurant – there’s a photo attached to this review.

This is a basic motor lodge motel that is conveniently located by the Ventura Music Hall. Not a fancy place, but it was clean and we felt perfectly safe. We would stay there again.

It's an old Route 66 type of motel with 2 floors. It's newly remodeled, so it was nice. We were in the back by the stairs but it remained quite. We were upgraded to a big room with a kitchen and full size appliances, so that was nice. Parking spaces are small, so not a lot of room for over-sized vehicles and it looked to have just enough parking for one car per room. Parking on the street would be the overflow option.

This is a ghetto motel. I may have had the worst room in the motel because my room looked different from the pictures. It was run down, old, and the bedsheets had small black stains that bothered me so much I couldn’t sleep well. It was also loud because it was facing the street.

Both beds were older and saggier than my boomer parents.Sweet night staff, thou g there was no morning staff. Back rooms were quiet from the street.Ugly exterior. Very small rooms. Awful, uncomfortable, saggy beds that kept me up all night, with only one type of soft pillow.
