Love this store. The nice gentleman behind the counter is really fun to talk to and has tons of great information on just about everything.

Altair-4 is a collectibles/used bookstore in Orange California, specializing in science fiction/fantasy and military history. My boys and I visited there last Saturday and Sunday January 3 and 4 - they were so taken with the selection. My younger one, in particular, found the selection of military history books exceptional and ended up purchasing several hard-cover coffee-table style books (the ones with lots of pictures) about World War II military equipment. The selection of science fiction and fantasy materials is also exceptional. If you're looking for out of print periodicals from the 1930's though 1950's you might try here. The owner has a lot of the old pulp science fiction novels like Amazing Stories and such. Note that this is a collectibles bookstore so a lot of the books are is above average to excellent condition and may be first edition hard covers so the price will reflect such. Plan on spending an hour or two to browse through his extensive collection. The parking is easy as it's part of a small strip mall along S Tustin (just south of Chapman and the 55 freeway). This particular strip mall has a lot of hobby stores so this could be your first stop on an afternoon indulging in various hobbies. It's a quiet store and the owner is more than willing to help you locate a book.
