Santa Barbara area has a lot of nurseries but when I need a plant, Island View has the best selection of healthy plants for the best price. Their staff is knowledgeable and helpful. It's so beautiful to wander their grounds and greenhouses.

Found this place by accident while cruising through Carpenteria on Hwy 192. Wow! Huge selection of interesting plants and some great outdoor decorating things like pots, benches, and large rusty iron sculptures of horses, dolphins, giraffes, etc. Beautiful to visit even if you don't buy anything (we bought a few small plants).

There are some beautiful gardens and nurseries in Carpenteria but nothing compares to the selection and global accessories at Island View. The nursery has undergone many changes during the past few years including thinning the selection of indoor plants but it is still worth a visit.
