Saul, the owner, gave us his complete, undivided attention throughout — truly a one-on-one experience that felt personal and special from start to finish.Over the course of 1.5 hours, he walked us through the art of crafting a marlin out of molten glass, explaining every detail of his process with patience and enthusiasm. Watching him work was mesmerizing — his skill and artistry are genuinely extraordinary.Beyond his talent, he was simply a wonderful person to spend time with — warm, generous, and clearly passionate about sharing his craft. We were lucky to stay in Santa Barbara at El Zapato, a lovely vacation home rental right in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, close to so many restaurants, shops, vintage places and gorgeous buildings built by the master architect, Jeff Shelton. We took a tour of all his buildings that our hostess, Carla, had recommended, and fell in love with all the hand blown art glass in them! When we found out the artist, Saul Alvarez, who made them all was offering classes at his art glass studio, we signed up and made our own blown glassware, and he showed us all his beautiful work! It was so much fun, and informative as well!

Saul is such a great teacher! My partner bought us a couple’s class (private lesson) to learn the art of glass blowing. He gave us a lay of the land and showed us how many possibilities there were with color and shape. Since we are beginners, we made a set of drinking cups (that we still use to this day!). This was such a fun way to spend the afternoon. Highly recommend this experience.
