This place used to be free. And then a company bought adjacent land and tried to steal the springs. The springs are still located on forest land. So the owners have straight up stolen an Ojai gem from the people.

This place is very unsanitary, noisy, and generally a mediocre experience. In addition this place is a scam. They are charging a fee for what use to be free. According to the USGS in Ojai, the hot springs is within the forest service boundaries. It has not had verifiable property lines. Next time you visit ask the host to show you where the property lines are. He will either lie or simply say he/she had no idea. The local PD does not enforce trespassing complaints. If they cannot clearly post and fence a no trespassing posted property. You might get hauled off if you are intoxicated but will not be charged with tresspacing. If you park near the last house before the small grade and one way light. Walk up stream, there is a clear trail. It will take directly to the back door of Ecotopia at no charge. If they say anything, simply don’t answer.Good luck however you go in and enjoy the hot water.

For us visiting a big scam. Ecosystem completely out of balance, many algae. And all this for 50 $. Really not worth the visit. Scavenging at its best. So sorry because I was looking forward to it. DO NOT GO there!!! Of course they do not allow you to take pictures ( algae).

This Hot Spring is visited out of desperation at best.I have lived here in Ventura county my entire life.We used to go to this spring before it became private. The rash some people get from the water has always been there. There is nothing that will make that go away. The spring water itself is lukewarm at best, you basically have to sit on top of a warm spot or you'll be cold. It's not deep either, unless people have dug it out.We would never actually pay *anything* to go to this spring. To do so is a bad joke... on you. There are far better things not a few hours away from here. Go there!

We are so lucky to have this amazing hot spring within reach. It is really great to go at night when the stars are shining. Lovely people, a real treasure . Hope it will re-open soon. There is nothing like it anywhere close by. Just soaking in the mineral water is restoring.
