tripadvisorWe went to 3Below Theaters and Lounge. This is a very good independent mpvie theater in the downtown San Jose area. The theaters are on the smaller size. There is a nice parking garage to park at right by the theaters
MoreWe drove down from Hayward on a Saturday night to see the one woman show, “Bette Davis ain’t for sissies”. But it was absolutely worth it. The concept of having three different theaters one for small performances one for stand-up comedy and one for films, especially independent films is a great model and wish there was something like this in the East Bay. A small but not insignificant observation is the incredibly reasonable prices for a variety of food items at the concession stand. What a difference from the Chains. They also have parking validation, if you are there for less than 3 1/2 hours parking is free which was just amazing. I do wonder however if they are making any money. And how long it will last if they are not. The business is a partnership between one of the former owners of the Camera theaters and Guggenheim entertainment. I hope they are successful, as I was very impressed that they had a series of one woman performances at the theater. And some other productions that looked really innovative and creative. A good place to support.
MoreMy wife and I recently attended a Cinema Club meeting where we saw a beautiful independent film that had just been released. 3Below, formerly, Camera 3 has always been a venue for independent and art films. I personally love this theater but it would be fair to say that the seating, though good, is not great and the sightlines, already mentioned by another reviewer, can be problematic if you're seated behind someone much taller than you, the reason I took off one point. But you'll see films here that don't often get wide release, so it is worth putting up with a less luxurious viewing experience than you could expect at the local multiplex.
MoreWe attended the Christmas show at the 3 Below Theaters and Lounge. Our granddaughter enjoyed the show and loved singing along with the elves. The four performers were great and very talented. There were crafts for the children after the show which were a hit.
