One of many offshoots of the original Ivar's Acres of Clams, the Salmon House represents the Seattle institution's attempt at contemporary dining. Located in a replica Indian longhouse, the restaurant features salmon and meats alder-smoked on the open-pit Indian-style barbecue. The chef does best with straightforward seafood preparations. It's hard to beat fresh Atlantic salmon with a little butter and citrus and an elegant view of Lake Union with the downtown skyline in the background. An elaborate brunch is served on Sundays.

MoreMy favorite place to eat in Seattle, hands down. Every visit feels special from the moment you walk in. The dining room is surrounded by stunning Pacific Northwest Coast art that celebrates...
