Being an Australian Vietnam Veteran & seeing this memorial in the park in front of the State Capitol building I had to go and pay my respects to the fallen Veteran of Minnesota. It was hero day & an American Vet was there at a small table with his wifehe asked if I needed any help, I said no thank you. After paying my respects I sat down & had a chat with him, ask me if he had been back to Vietnam. He said NO once was enough & he didn't want to tempt fate, I also said I had never been back. Nice Memorial but far too many names on it , he said would I like a patch & pin to remember the Minnesota Vietnam Memorial I said I would be honored.

The memorial is a beautiful tribute to our Vietnam veterans and can make an excellent learning opportunity for children. It's a very special stop, especially if someone in your family served.

I am a military wife, now a widow! I married my MN soldier in 1974. I still feel a part of the Minnesota military community even though I was born in NY!

The memorial is in the Veterans Park, 6400 Portland Av, Richfield, MN 55423, north of I-494 South. One of the five flag raisers over Iwo Jima was Cpl. Chuck Lindberg, who lived in Richfield for 50+ years. His statue is part of the memorial, in Marine flamethrower gear. Another adjacent plaque is for commemorating MN sharp shooters. MN is one of four states with sharp shooter divisions. May take less than 0.5 hour to go through the memorial, but one learns something of history. The park less than 10 miles from the Mall of America MOA), another attraction in the Twin Cities (Bloomington), on I-494 South to HY 77. Lindau Ln (north boundary of MOA) or Killebrew Dr (south boundary of MOA)

Though a veteran, myself, I did not realized that there was a Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Minnesota. Had to stop by and pay tribute to their memory.
