The 130.1 acres 52.6 hectares of the Highbridge Park lay stretched along the banks of the Harlem River, in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan. Once a very popular park, it was gradually neglected by the authorities, and became ridden with crime and garbage. Since 2000, however, a major redevelopment and revival project has been underway to restore the Highbridge Park to its glory, the fruits of which are evident in the park again being a popular haunt among the locals. For mountain biking lovers, this park would especially be a must visit, as since 2007, it has the city’s first approved mountain bike trails and dirt jumps. See the website to know more.
