If you like history at all this is a must visit. It is absolutely beautiful. Make sure to go to the overlook and see the river. It is a touching tribute to those who survived and those who died on the Trail of Tears

All my life, since I can recall, my mother telling us our great-grandmother was Cherokee Indian, I have been fascinated and interested in their history. So, a friend drove us on a day trip to Birchwood, TN to visited The Cherokee Removal Memorial Park. The log type building houses artifacts from the Cherokee Nation; arrowheads, dress attire, pottery, beautiful handwoven baskets and a lot more interesting items. Outside are several memorials with names of Native Americans itched into these memorials. You walk and read the names on these memorials and you can just envision. You can drive just around the area and hike up a very nice wide ramp to view the beautiful Tennessee River and see Blythe Ferry area. This is a lovely place to visit.

Beautiful memorial to the removal of the Cherokee Indians. Interesting historical and educational experience. This memorial is along the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail.

Excellent information about the Cherokee removal and the Trail of Tears. It reminds us of an awful time in our history where greed outweighed compassion and humanity but it's something everyone needs to know about.

I loved this memorial. I did not realize it had been built and I am glad they did. I had a relative listed on the wall. It is so sad what the Cherokee Indians had to go through. I could not imagine being forced out of my home. Very beautiful memorial to keep memories alive.
