tripadvisorShout out to Cody for the above and beyond customer service! Great venue! Decent price for drinks. I've paid more
MoreI have been to the Cowan for quite a few shows. It is an awesome venue. Great set up for concerts. The bar and staff are always friendly and do a great job. Went last night and saw The Damn Things and last month Buckcherry. Highly recommend you put it on your venues to go to if available.
MoreThis was a a huge disaster! I went to the Cowan last night at Top Golf to see Cole Swindle Pre-Show Punch Launch Party. Even though it was thunderstorming, raining cats and dog with lightning and high wind warnings…I still arrived 15 minutes early. It said all over your advertisements that the doors would open at 5:30…great I can stand a bad weather under the tent provided at the entrance of the Cowan for 15 minutes…but that was not the case. At 530…nothing…there was another event in the cowan that had the place packed. The thunderstorm had picked up and there was lightning all around…the situation there became more unsafe. At 5:58….28 minutes after the doors were suppose to open the cowan workers manning the entrance and one man with a sugarland hoodie on told the 60 or so of us hiding underneath the tent were told we need to get out of the tent and line up on the outside wall. That’s when my phone went off saying that Davidson County (Nashville) was under a tornado warning. Everyone underneath the tent initially resisted the instructions out of safety but the Cowan worker continued on saying no one would be let into the event until the tent was cleared. Everyone began leaving the tent …many didn’t have umbrellas but waited to get in for a lot longer than we had. Many people because of the extreme weather and fear of safety left…which is what we ended up doing. We left at 6:03….33 minutes after you said in your ads that the doors would be open. This event was complete chaos and had a total disregard for concert goer safety. At NO point was there an alternative given for the safety of everyone there…they forced everyone out into extreme conditions with a tornado warning in progress. I have purchased many products from Sugarland including tshirts, Roaming man, flavored moonshine and glasses and have visited the store numerous times in Gatlinburg. Ive never seen anything with the Sugarland brand on it that would lead me to think negative about your company…until last night. Im not sure if it was Top Golf’s Cowan venue or your company that makes it a practice to intentionally put patrons at risk for their events during extreme conditions because of a lack of another plan. I am an event organizer myself and have never seen such poor planning. I left straight from work with a co worker to see this event…traveled a half hour. After seeing the gross negligence of both your employee and the Cowen employees I knew that they didn’t have any of out best interests in mind. My initial reaction is too post this letter to everywhere on the internet I can find but I figured to be fair is to hear an explanation on your part first.
MoreI took my 2 teenagers to see Watsky. They, of course, headed to the stage for an up close view. I stood in the back, but still had a really good view and enjoyed the show immensely. It's a small venue with standing for general admission and seating in the balcony for VIP, but honestly, I preferred the floor. There is a bar and snacks and I felt like the whole thing was run very efficiently and smoothly. Plenty of parking and felt safe, as there is ample security. Surprisingly (since this wasn't my music of choice) I really enjoyed myself!! Loved the intimate venue and actually really loved Watsky!!
MoreTook my eldest daughter and one of her best friends to this venue on Friday night to see a close friend of mine perform with BBVD, a contemporary swing band from Southern California. Although I can’t say I’m a huge fan of swing music, BBVD was amazing! Incredible musicians! The venue was easy to get to with plenty of free parking and valet parking for $5. The venue is attached to a “Top Golf” driving range facility that appears to be wildly popular with Nashvillians. That place was packed! I plan to give it a try and review it at a later date. The Cowan is on the lower level and very easy to reach from the parking area. No significant stairs to be concerned about if you are mobility impaired. Security was friendly and thorough and I felt very comfortable both inside and outside the facility.Since this was a swing band, the crowd was an eclectic mix of people ranging in age from teenagers to probably 75 years old. Some were there to dance others to just enjoy the music. The balcony area is the VIP area and the only place that has any seating. The main floor is standing/dancing room only. We quickly found a wall to lean against since we were going to be there for a couple hours. Hint, if you are in the general admission area, wear comfortable shoes! If you are elderly or mobility impaired and need to sit during the concert/event, VIP will be your only choice and I’m not sure if there is an elevator to the balcony or not. I do know there are separate entrances for VIP and general admission, so perhaps that issue is resolved by the alternate entrance. Based on what I saw, the best seats in the VIP area are limited to the tables along the rail facing the stage. If you plan to pay for VIP, I would recommend getting there early to ensure you get a good seat. Make sure to check the specific event as door times do change.Tickets for this event seemed reasonably priced at about $35-$40. There is a decent bar on both floors of the venue where you can purchase soft drinks, water or adult beverages. My buddy in the band told us the food (from Top Golf) is excellent. That’s another thing we will need to try some other time. The venue itself is very clean with an excellent sound system. It holds about 650 people in total, so it really is an intimate venue that allows you to get very close to the stage. I’m guessing there were 200-300 people in attendance at this concert so it was not crowded. Several couples danced for the entire 90 minute concert and there was room for them to do so amongst the crowd.Because of the small size of the venue, it empties out quickly and easily. In this case, the band members joined the crowd for autographs, photos and conversation after the concert. It was an awesome evening!
