*HATE INCIDENT occurred and then reported to police:Summary: I was harassed and racially targeted by a patron (blonde biker chick as noted by the bar back), and then shortly after by the head bartender, when I was minding my own business with my partner and after reporting it to bar management in real time, the head bartender (named Christina I think, she was blonde wearing a black beanie, around 10:50pm) went out of her way to confront me after I had already exited the building with my partner upon reporting the issue, and became loud/rude/dismissive/defensive in the street and yelled at me if you were going to use the RACE CARD, at least tell me what happened which I was literally trying to but she kept interrupting me and got extremely defensive, and screamed BITCH at me after a few minutes of not listening and told me don't bother ever coming back, you're not welcome here! when I tried to explain to her what happened. So read this and continue being aware of the type of people around you, and always look out for your safety. I was one of a couple people of color left at the bar at that time, and seemed to really stick out as a target apparently. Be careful, be aware, and stay safe. This place employs shameful bigoted staff apparently.I reported the incident to police early the next morning, who by first amendment rights couldn't legally do anything, but said as a human this behavior was not acceptable and encouraged me to let people know. And, that's what I'm doing. This was HARASSMENT by a patron and then by the bar's management towards me, with both of them going out of their way to single me out and target me, and it felt incredibly racially charged given their direct language, verbal and non-verbal, and given who was present at the bar at the time.

Maybe the best lil tavern in the world and i've visited alot all over the globe. Loud rock, unapologetic ambience, fantastic curated beer selection, bartender's lunch for free food in slow cooker, honest helpful pro staff and the owner parties like a sasquatch. Interesting mix of local workers, surfers, local kids, and San Francisco punk rock legends co-mingled. Look the big motorcycle skid mark on the floor. Oh did i mention all the pinballs, pool, shuffleboard and endless ephemera all over, plus b&w tvs playing weird oddities. I hope no-one learns about this place but everyone should so they stay in business and keep booking top-shelf bands and beers.

Came here from England to see punk band The Vibrators. Small gaff, but good selection of beers and perfect for the gig we attended. Sound was good, friendly locals and easily reached by taxi. The locals certainly enjoyed the band and as it was my birthday I got a rousing chorus from everyone! Packed in there too. We did 6 gigs in all - this bar was the stand out venue...

This 1890s era barn-turned-surf-bar is tons of fun. Big enough to host live music, small enough to be cozy for happy hour. A never-ending parade of unusual beers and always a cider on tap. Don't be afraid to flag down a bartender. They're often engaged with other patrons and making them feel like they belong. Diverse, welcoming, inclusive. Rife with antique light fixtures and endless interesting things to see on the walls. Full sized shuffleboard and pool table, and mechanical CD jukebox way more in-tune with the atmosphere than a boring wall mount digital. You can sometimes find free hot dogs on Wednesdays. I haven't hung out in bars for 20+ years until now. I always have a good time.

I love to sit, relax and have a drink in a fun unique place, and this is the one. Your extremely comfortable at this tavern and there is always some great characters to talk to. If your looking for an uppity snooty place this is not the place for you.
