This is a very nice classic theater set in an old hotel. Sight lines are very good and it feels intimate even though it is large. The Playhouse has a great program of classic pieces and the productions are quite good. A friend of ours is a producer here.

I hate to cap on local theater when all are struggling these days. But, wow! Over $100 for two tickets to the worst Bay Area theater production I have been to in nearly 30 years. The pacing was abysmal, so the outdated farce they are choosing to produce in 2025 fell utterly flat. No humor. Acting quality at the level of the best high school players. The rich Sheik--a sterotyped trope that was probably already going flat when Freyn wrote the play--is now entirely dead. I guess they recycle the standbys in their cannon every 10 years or so. Painful. Left at intermission. Two stars for the opportunity to go into a lovely old SF building and soak up the atmosphere.

The show was amazing! Especially the performances by Professor Higgins, Eliza, and Matthew Letton. I’ve seen this show a number of times and this one was by far the best performance and music.

We saw a fabulous performance of MY FAIR LADY at San Francisco Playhouse. I'd forgotten how much pure pleasure there is from watching a well-choreographed musical! The helpful program notes reminded us to look beyond the obvious to understand the themes George Bernard Shaw explored in Pygmalion, the play that MFL is based on. We sat in Row C and had a great view of the stage. I love the inclusivity of the SF Playhouse and their outreach to new playwrights.

This was a top tier performance, both in acting and staging. The theater is fairly small with many excellent seat choices. I accompanied my daughter-in-law and my 9 year old granddaughter and we all loved the performance. We don't live in San Francisco, but we would make this theater a top choice for another visit, depending on subject matter for a young child who loves theater.
