tripadvisorIt's a cloudy day, which made for darker water. I understand they head towards warmer waters in cooler weather. It's 68 degrees and we saw many manatees!
MoreI read before it wasn’t great to find Manatee in the summer months but we were driving by and visiting Florida from out of state so thought we would try. Was late morning and warm, we saw a friendly turtle but no manatee. Local person said they usually have manatee in winter months. If it’s summer time and you want to see Manatee nearby try Manatee Cove park about 30min away, we found some there.
MoreWe tried….several times. But, there were no manatees. We talked to a local who was out for a walk and she said the best times to try and see them was morning or right around sunset. But, nature does what nature does, and those pesky critters were nowhere to be found. It was a nice site if only the manatees would have cooperated!
MoreWas just there today. Just like everyone else has said...this is just a bridge over the road (S. Patrick Dr). We parked in a church parking lot a couple of blocks away. The neighborhood as no parking signs, and I'm sure the residents get tired of people intruding. Please respect their area. We saw nearly 20 manatees in the channel. Probably best to see them on weekday afternoons .
MoreI usually look on Trip Advisor before any vacation and make a list of some cool things the family may like to see. This seemed like a random destination, but it was oh so worth it! I think we ended up visiting 3-4 times during our week vacation and saw one or two every time! The first time we even saw a momma and a baby! So worth the visit, highly recommend!
