tripadvisorSage Lodge was a great fit for our two traveling families. The lodge and staff were great. We enjoed the beautiful views of the mountains the lodge offers.
Morethis was our 4th stay at Sage Lodge. We love the peaceful setting and the quiet. The front desk staff is always helpful and the rooms are clean and luxurious.
MoreThe Sage Lodge is a rustic, beautiful and elegant retreat. Accommodations are more than basic, they are spectacularly private and public at the same time. You will see the huge sky, Mountain views, deer, swan, king fisher birds, ducks, and other surprise visitors stop by every day. You can learn fly fishing right outside your door. All equipment is provided. Lessons are genius. The guides for hiking and fly fishing are worth it—I saw four bald eagles in one day, caught five rainbow trout/white fish also. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Not once did I hear a “no” from anyone. They offer all kinds of activities from fly fishing to horseback riding to sky viewing to lots more—cooking, axe throwing, archery. The food is ridiculously good. The bartenders make up drinks with huckleberry and other Montana native berries and spices and lavender. The spa is divine and you will need it after all the activities. But if you just want to play scrabble or chess, or listen tolive music, do that too. They have that with spectacular views of the mountain outside your window. Food was awesome. Best thing I had was the Sage Lodge Breakfast with elk sausage and huckleberry/mixed jam. Give it a try. This is the only restaurant where I’ve seen a four ounce steak as a side dish. People bulk up for the day in the big sky country where every day is an adventure. Loved it.
MoreSage Lodge is a beautiful place to stay. The setting is stunning, and the lodge itself is thoughtfully designed and comfortable. The service has been excellent across the board, but a special shout-out goes to Aiden. He taught us how to fly fish with real patience, and he helped my son land his first fish on a fly rod. That’s a memory our family will have for a long time. Tanner was an excellent instructor, teaching us how to tie our first flies.Every meal we had was excellent. Dinner at the Grill is pricey, but it is very much worth it. My wife has exceptional taste and isn’t easily impressed, and she said the trout was one of her favorite restaurant meals anywhere. The massages were fantastic, possibly the best resort massages we’ve ever had. We also really enjoyed hanging out in the lobby and playing games. It’s a cozy, welcoming space to spend a weekend.
MoreHubby and I stayed here for 4 nights. We reserved a Lodge King which has a balcony and fortunately faced the pond and Emigrant Peak and not the Grill restaurant. I do believe there are some rooms that face in the direction of the Grill restaurant and roundabout that was not as appealing as most rooms facing Emigrant Peak. Although next time I think I would like to try the Deluxe which is on the ground floor that offers you a bigger space outside. But as long as you are facing Emigrant peak I think you will be happy. We booked with Amex Hotel Collection and had to remind them at check in to explain our Amex amenities. Front desk was friendly and accommodating when I requested a 1P late checkout. I don't believe there is valet but parking was easy anyway. Just be sure to drop off luggage at the roundabout since it is a gravel road. The hotel seemed updated and the bed was comfortable. We came at a good time since it was off peak with no crowds. The bathroom had walk in shower, single sink and separate toilet w/ privacy door. There was complimentary coffee and light snacks as early as 5A downstairs in a nook which was good for those adventuring Yellowstone in the early morning. We tried the complimentary axe throwing and nature hike which was fun with Jaden. We did see a few people riding the complimentary bikes and fishing. The hiking path is long and scenic so if you like to hike definitely venture out. All in all we would definitely return since the staff are so friendly and location simply beautiful!
