Founded in 2003, The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy is an organization that works towards the preservation of the Detroit RiverWalk. The place has been transformed from the once shabby industrial wasteland to a beautiful promenade with green spaces, parks, plazas and more. The conservancy organizes various community events like fund raisers, river-front events through which it disseminates the idea of making the RiverWalk an easily accessible place. You can also support them by making contributions in order to enhance the urban beauty.

tripadvisorIt's a good place to get a view of the city's skyscrapers and you will find a park with a nice stroll along the river. Good when the weather is warm and you will find joggers and power walkers.
MoreThe Detroit riverfront is a favorite destination of ours! Living just 30 minutes away, we enjoy walking along the Detroit River on a beautiful day and so come down several times across the year. On this late summer day, we walked from the state park over to Cullen Plaza and a bit more westward. We checked out some public art installations. We sat on a bench to watch a downbound freighter pass by. We leaned on the railing watching the sunlight play on the water. We walked through the marshlands park. There is free parking near Cullen Plaza where a cafe and public restrooms can be found. Of course, the current riverfront has about 5 walkable miles end to end. We stayed about an hour, but certainly since it is free to walk the Riverwalk and it is open all day long 6am-10pm. So each visit can be a different experience depending on the time of year and the time of day. A visit during the winter months is as interesting and beautiful as a visit during any other season. Check the calendar for scheduled events such as the 313 Festival, Shimmer on the River, and Harvest Festival.
MoreThere were beautiful views and it was a great afternoon walk! We really enjoyed the family-friendly atmosphere. It would be a great place for a picnic!
MoreThe City of Detroit has done an excellent job rehabbing the walkway/bikeway along the Detroit River. The views of the river and Canada beyond are nice, and this is a fine place for people watching.
MoreIt was a beautiful day. There were not so many tourists in the area. I was amazed at how many beautiful architectural designs
