We just visited for the first time to hike with dogs. What a nice mix of a diverse environment. You hike through a pine forest, hardwoods, there's a beautiful view of the hills right now with the leaves changing colors! There were muddy spots due to a lot of rain in our area.....you'll need boots. There's not a lot of rocks or trees to climb over; overall its a easy hike to do. Incline was very mild (we did the yellow trail) We seen deer and a raccoon and ducks while on the trail. It is a large preserve, but not all of it is marked. The road up to the trail was rough. Very muddy and a very small parking lot. I decided not to try to make it to the top of the hill in my Hyundai Sonata. I turned around and parked on the hill on the way up to the top. There are two different roads to get to the top of that hill. We took Water St. and it was rough. Also this is a loop trail; but the one entrance you do have to climb up a very steep bank. The other entrance down the road a bit is pretty flat and easy to start the trail.

This is just a great place to explore nature in a very diverse environment. There are open fields, vernal ponds, mixed forest and miles of hiking trails. It is a little known venue on a seasonally maintained dirt road above the village of Candor, NY. It is a 285 acre wildlife preserve that has been generously donated to the Finger Lakes Land Trust by local residents Betsy and Dick Darlington in 2015. A GREAT venue to enjoy the great outdoors. Parking is limited. And the main road to the trails can be steep and rough. Trails have moderate but gradual elevations.
