Visiting in Sanford over a weekend, I stopped in at both Shaw’s Supermarket and Ollie’s Bargain Outlet here in the Center for Shopping.At Shaw’s, I got Reg. $4.99/lb. Northwest Cherries on sale at $2.99/lb. and a 1 lb. package of Reg. $3.99 Lucerne Butter ¼’s for $2.50. Shaw’s prices used to be higher than other supermarket prices in the area, but Albertsons Companies, Inc, the parent of Shaw’s, lowered prices. Even when the prices were higher, when Shaw’s had a sale, the amount off that sale item was substantial. The practice continues. Newcomer-to-Sanford Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is a discount retailer that deals primarily in closeout and excess inventory merchandise. The discounts range from 15% and up on everything. I went there to browse the store for a second time. It wss Ollie’s Army Members Only Night. There were two special sales. In addition to the regular discounted prices, one sale was for 25% off summer merchandise and the 15% off sale was on everything else in the entire store.Another good place to shop here is Dollar Tree.And, for thift store shoppers, there’s Threads of Hope.Bull Moose moved out of Sanford to Biddeford.One restaurant closed because of the pandemic. El Mexicano, Applebee’s Grill, Subway, and Pizza Hut are still here. Wendy;s is next door to the center.I rate this visit to the Center for Shopping at 4.50 and can recommend shopping and/or dining here. On a shopping trip to Sanford, the Center for Shopping was one my stops. At Bull Moose, I searched for a specific music CD. Although I didn't find it, I enjoyed browsing and talking to store staff.At Threads of Hope, I looked at just about everything in the store but didn't find anything I couldn't live without on this trip.It's always interesting to shop at both stores.I also enjoy shopping at the Shaw's and Dollar Tree.I miss The Chilean which closed permanently due to the pandemic.I still rate the Center for Shopping at 4.0 an can recommend a visit.The reason for the delay in submitting this review was due to a months-long loss of my ability to post photos with my reviews and some health issues.If you found this review useful, please click the THUMBS UP to indicate HELPFUL.

The Center for Shopping is the main shopping center for the Sanford area. It has restaurants, stores, a movie theater, a supermarket, and a bank. The biggest attractions for travelers would be the restaurants: El Mexicano, Applebee’s Grill + Bar, Pizza Hut, and Subway. I’ve eaten at the well-rated Applebee’s and Pizza Hut which seems to have gone downhill. El Mexicano, Applebee’s, and Subway are the best places to eat here. The perfect family afternoon/night out or rainy day activity is Smitty's Cinema which also serves food. Stores of interest to travelers are Bull Moose Music, Dollar Tree for snacks or those used-up/forgotten toiletries, GNC, and Threads of Hope Thrift Shop. There is also a Planet Fitness. The Shaw’s Supermarket Is a good place to shop for the salad bar, fresh fruit and grocery snacks, and frozen meals for in-room cooking at hotel. This Shaw’s has an in-store Osco Pharmacy. There is a Bank of America full-service branch with drive-up ATM in the middle of this sort-of wide horseshoe-shaped shopping center. On my most-recent visit there, I shopped at Shaw's for fresh fruit and uncooked fresh shrimp on sale, Bull Moose Music where I bought a CD, and Threads of Hope Thrift Shop - for the first time - where I found a couple of never-worn summer knit tops. For the five categories of shopping, dining, entertainment, a pharmacy, and banking all in one location, I rate The Center for Shopping at 4.25.
