tripadvisorIf you head to the Bridge, you must stop at this parking lot and overlook to enjoy the splendid views of the passage into the Bay that the Bridge spans. This is the Golden Gate, a gateway to the Bay Area. There are views of the Marin Headlands and some of the San Francisco skyline.
MoreWent here hoping for a nice clear view of the Golden Gate but honestly the place was pretty packed. I mean, hard to get a good photo without people in the way and the wind was chilly too. So yeah, the overlook itself is okay but nothing special, just average if you want to stop by briefly.
MoreThis overlook is located when hiking along the California Coastal Trail at the Presidio of San Francisco. It offers one of the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge from the southern end of the bridge. There are also some great viewpoints from the Marin Headlands across the bridge. The hike is easy and begins at the Golden Gate Welcome Center and ends at Baker's Beach
MoreYou can't get enough of the Golden Gate Bridge. And the best place to view it in all of its splendor, next to driving across from San Francisco to Marin County and back again, is to visit the Golden Gate Overlook. Located off Lincoln Boulevard in the Presidio of San Francisco, on the southwest side of the bridge, it is a curved semi-circular concrete plaza that hugs the edge of the coastal cliffs. Lined with wooden benches, you can sit back and enjoy the incredible coastal bluff views. In addition, the spot connects with three major multi-use park trails. Aside from getting a picture postcard view of the bridge and San Francisco Bay, visitors can participate in such popular activities as hiking, cycling, bird watching and dog walking. But the most popular activity is photography. Visitors also are afforded views of numerous historic fortifications and ruins, including Battery Godfrey to the left and Battery Boutelle in front of you. The gun emplacements along the bluff were active over a century ago as part of the nation's coastal defense, starting in 1885.
MoreWe saw the bridge from all angles and they are all spectacular. From here you can look straight through the middle and see all the traffic going across. Definitely worth the different view.
