A rather old cemetery service the community. Some nice green space for strolling. Some old gravestones to read.

We paid our respects at Mount St Joseph Cemetery in Hayward. It is a Pioneer cemetery established in 1876. Many of those buried there are of Portuguese descent. Adacent to the Cemetery is Memorial Park.

This cemetery has been known by many names in its history and other names have been: Portugese Cemetery and All Saints Cemetery. Established in 1875, it has been the final resting place for pioneers who helped build the foundation for the community that hangs upon its bones today. To visit this historic location, contact the church and make an appointment. It is a protected site with ancient, tall markers bearing the names of the families who paved the way.
