I was walking down Mission Street just trying to get to my destination as quickly as possible when I saw this statue out of the corner of my eye. I stopped dead in my tracks and had to take a detour. The sheer size is simply awesome!!! Highly recommend a visit if you are nearby.

I don't know why, I had it in my mind that it was North of Market near Twitter. Turns out I was completely mistaken. Its South of Market on Mission Street near 8th. Its essentially across from the Holiday Inn Civic Center. Eighth Street is slightly sketchy, but once you make the left on Mission, the entire block is neat and clean due to the giant Trinity Plaza apartment complex. Walk about half a block down and there are the gates to a secluded garden. Up some steps and you are in a peaceful oasis. The garden is littered with semi-completed statuary, as if Michaelangelo and his crew just stepped out for lunch. And in the middle of this little oasis is this gigantic chrome goddess, facing west. The colors of the garden reflect off of her and it's quite spectacular. It makes for a nice walk to see it, then head over to Civic Center to walk by City Hall (I've been in many times, so skirted it). Then a few blocks to the walkway near the Symphony and the Opera. Then headed over to Hayes Valley for lunch. Perfect on a nice day.
