Reviews
tripadvisorThis small gallery, located close to Live Oak Park, showcases works by local artists. From acrylic sculptures to canvases, the work generally reflected Bay Area ecology and politics.
MoreThis gallery always surprises me when I’m strolling (or jogging) through Live Oak Park. I’ve seen many great exhibits and the space is beautiful.
MoreThis is a small municipal gallery that's non-profit, but supported by the City of Berkeley. It shows regional work, and sometimes work from afar. The offerings are eclectic. You could see a cutting edge exhibition by emerging or established artists, or a show of kids work. You might catch a performance or installation, a reading or a panel discussion. There are children's activities and workshops for adults as well. It's in a lovely setting, in an architect designed mid-century building (1960s) in Live Oak Park. A creek meanders through the park and old oak trees gave the park its name. There are picnic tables and a barbecue nearby and the gourmet ghetto is just a couple of blocks away. Get pizza at the Cheeseboard and a drink or take out at Gregoire's or Saul's and enjoy Live Oak Park and the unusual Berkeley Art Center. Famous sculptors have (semi) permanent displays in the art Center's courtyard. It's a hidden gem for sure.
