Named after the designer of the city, Pierre Charles L'Enfant, this plaza is one of Washington's paved square, dedicated in 1968 as part of the urban renewal of the city. A central garden provides a touch of nature amid office buildings and the elegant Loews L'Enfant Plaza. An underground mall has shopping and restaurants. The plaza is conveniently close to the National Mall and the Smithsonian Museum, and the International Spy Museum. This recently renovated mall is also near the metro giving you easy access to a world of shopping, dining and entertainment.

tripadvisorThis was a redevelopment area in the early 1970s and has long been built out with government office buildings, a shopping mall and a big hotel. I have worked in the area so I know it. There is a big Metro station here but not a lot for tourists to see. You have to walk over to the Mall.
MoreSo we were going on a Sunset bus tour and wanted to grab a quick dinner. Much to our surprise there was a food court with some retail shopping right at the meeting place. We were warned not to go there at lunch as all the federal workers in the area invade. We went about 6pm and half the restaurants were closed. The place feels a bit run down but is clean and there was security roaming about. A lot of empty stores but what was there seemed to be thriving.
MoreI wasn't sure what to expect but I stopped by to see it. I got into the entrance behind the spy museum. It was easy to miss but there was a L'Enfant plaza sign above the door. After going down the stairs I ended up in the plaza. It was more like a food court than a shopping mall. Most of the outlets were fast food ones. There were a few shops around but they were mostly closed, but I did arrive after 1700. There was an interesting souvenir store inside. Following the corridor leads to more food outlets and the metro station. It is useful if you are wanting to grab something to eat on the way home.
MoreGreat place to visit, clean, and well set out. Places are well signposted, light and airy. Felt safe walking round. Even better that the Metro goes straight in
MoreThis is pretty much a food court (and a few shops) at the Metro station. It's clean, convenient and pretty much near the center of a lot of the attractions. 4 stars for doing a good job for what it's supposed be.
