This is a self guided tour of the country's first Presidential Library. If you go on the house tour, there is a brief discussion of how the FDR library came to be. The museum has a lot of exhibits over multiple floors ( elevator accessible) and is easy to get lost with so much to see. Definitely worth the trip.

The FDR library and museum is wonderful. There is a well done 20 minute introductory movie at the visitors center to start, then a 1 hour plus tour of the home. The national parks guide was so knowledgeable and was able to answer many questions about FDR and his family. The home was preserved with furniture from the 1940's. it reminded me of my grandmother's house of long ago. It was not flashy - rather it was cluttered and homey. Of course it was also large with lots of bedrooms! The grounds were beautiful and well kept. You tour the library on your own. The presidential library was SO full of material. We could've spent days there - a history buff's delight. The displays were well done and was a treasure trove for a serious historian. It is expensive ($18) however with a senior pass it was reduced to $6! Well worth it!!!

Stopped to tour the library and home of FDR while in Hyde Park New York. Beautiful setting and lots of historical information in the library about Pearl Harbor. Our guide was a bit hard to hear when we were outside but once in a building, we could hear her more easily. Beautiful setting along the Hudson River

We took the tour of the Roosevelt house and Eleanoor's house Val Kill after seeing the exhibits in the library. It was a wonderful day of history and our guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. It was a wonderful snapshot of the times and stories were interjected to give a real glimpse of the Roosevelts. My second time through but my husband's first - and I learned something new this time as well! Worth the time and the park rangers are very knowledgeable!

We were nearby Hyde Park, NY and decided to visit the FDR library and his home. It was fascinating. This is the only president in history to have been entering his fourth term of office so there was so much interesting information to digest. In addition his wife, Eleanor, was an interesting and productive first lady beyond measure. I would highly recommend visiting all of the buildings on the FDR property. We only had an afternoon and wished we could have seen more, especially Eleanor's house. This is a must see! If I had known the amount of information to see, I would have carved out an entire day. Even if you are not a history buff, you will still like this.
