This massive 427-acre park is located in South Providence, adjacent to the suburb of Cranston. It sits upon land that was once inhabited by the Narragansett Tribe before it was granted to Roger Williams, one of the Rhode Islands's original colonists in 1638. His heirs donated it in 1871 and the park was subsequently built in 1878. Once on the grounds, the park contains seven different lakes and it's also home to the city zoo, botanical gardens, the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium in addition to some other quirky attractions like the Temple to Music and Carousel Village. The aforementioned lakes are also the perfect spot to take a tranquil boat during the summer and especially during the fall when the leaves change their colors.

Reviews
tripadvisorWe visited the botanical gardens, it was very reasonably priced and offered a great variety of plants and biomes. Average to above average attractive men only added to the beauty of botany.
MorePrimarily greenhouses. An outdoor rose garden, and a small maze. 3 friendly goats on the property. Clean bathrooms.Small children's play area in one of the greenhouses.
MoreFive dollars for each adults, they have a lot of plants in several green house! I like them a lot! I also saw swans around, they are very cute.
MoreNot much to see outside in October, except the roses. But some nice displays in the large greenhouses and there are goats! That was the best part. Worth the small admission fee, would be a great cool weather activity as the majority of plants are inside.
MoreThese gardens were much bigger than expected. Extensive different greenhouses all linked together. Some interesting plants and nice place to take some pictures. Overall it is a nice cheap place to visit. It is also connected to a larger park where you could ride on paddle boats and go on a carousel
