We stayed here for two weeks in April. We had a back in site with full hookups that accommodated our 43 ft. fifth wheel. Each site has its own covered patio, charcoal grill and firepit. We put all three to use. The weather wasn't the best, so we didn't get to use the water facilities, but looks great. Nice quiet campground near the city. We will return!

Site size: Large spacious sites with covered pavilions with picnic tables, charcoal grill and fire ring. Concrete ( paved) sites are mostly even but some have a slight grade- we have a 44ft long fifth wheel and these sights easily accommodate us. Not all sites have sewer but all sites have water and electric.Views: we stay lakeside but have also stayed in the other loops (A) in the woods. The lake side stays busy. The sites in the woods have closer access to the walking and bike trails.Noise - this park is located on the outskirts of the cities of Grand Prairie, Arlington and Mansfield. By the lake you will hear boats and you will hear road noise and overhead planes, etc on most of the other loops. Don't expect complete quiet while you are here!Atmosphere: slow during the week but the weekends fill up with local community and families. Considered a party place on the weekends by adults and you will find large crowds holding birthday parties on the rentable cabin sites. The local community take pride in access to the park and many are very friendly and welcoming. There is a boat launch on site. Lots of birds visit. There is a beach and pavilion in the center of the park along with overflow parking. Beware of ant piles throughout the park sites!Convenience: Very short drive to everything you need - groceries, gas stations, services, department stores. there is a small camp store on site - you can get firewood and other odds and ends and they have kayak rentals.Safety: I believe there is a 24 hr patrol by the park rangers. I have seen them driving around all hours of the day and night. We feel safe. The park staff are very pleasant. Price - lake view and lake side sites are more expensive. daily rates are reasonable- they also have cabins available for rent. Sites with sewer are more expensive. There is a fee per car for day passes or you can buy a yearly pass from the city that saves you a bit of money if you are staying over 14 days. There is a 2 week stay limit but they waived it this year during the off season (Nov -March).

The park is clean, quiet and the sites aren’t too close together. Everyone who works here is extremely helpful and pleasant. We have now been here 3 times and we will be back many more.

Well good and bad, we enjoyed our stay. We found the staff super responsive and helpful even when we moved sites due to my husband's error on converting from 30amp to 50 amp trailer UNTILL the golf cart catastrophe. The BAD;We rented a golf cart for Saturday night, paid a ridiculous $433. Received the cart on empty- I honestly just thought the gage didn't work. I mean wouldn't they fill it up prior to our rental? --- UM guess not.Because we didn't want to miss out on the cart opportunity, we rented Thursday and left the cart in the lot till Friday. We wanted the cart and made the sacrifice to pay for days we didn't need. We wanted a cart. We used the cart on Friday to drive on from our site to our new site when we moved. Thats it, literally 5 mins. Parked it and didn't use till we came out on Saturday night. Saturday night the cart constantly kept dying- we thought oh ok.... Let it rest, and then it was unable to even make it through one loop of the park. We had to leave it at another site and walk back to our camp site........ Not acceptable. the cart was useless the entire one night we needed it. The good- After coming to the conclusion the cart was dead, I called the front office- RUDE, and not helpful. The lady literally asked me what I wanted her to do. I then called the camp store and began texting with the nicest person. She was compassionate and understanding. Unfortunately, she said no one could help. Every person in the park was busy and someone would come the next day. The NEXT DAY! Really unacceptable that not one person is reserved for camper emergencies. I understand it is the busiest night of the park. As a camper we paid for our site, decorated, handed out over $200 in candy, rented a very costly golf cart and definitely did not feel supported by the park.Hindsight, when I went to pick the cart, another patron said, I saw that one on the side of the road last weekend, but I was assured by Camp Store personal that the cart was operational. So, I ignored the lady and chose the pretty red cart. Lesson learned. Upon return of the cart, I once again was told the cart had previous overheating issues, but they never found anything wrong with it. So, in short, I paid $433 initially was given a $50 credit for cart that didn't work, so $383 for a cart to not even be able to use the one night of Forest of Fear. Almost seems fraudulent. I know other parks have a few spare carts they reserve for emergencies. Seems logical when people are paying top dollar for a cart for it to be operational. It also seems logical to fill the carts before they are rented. Really an empty cart upon pick up..... Overall, we enjoyed our stay, we do forest of fear every year but never before the golf carts. The whole golf cart catastrophe almost seems comical, well till we had to walk very far with our small kids back to camp because we broke down, and then drive our truck through the park instead of the cart we rented. I hope you can use this feedback and improve the process for other patrons. I also hope the nice person on the text messages gets recognized for being the most supportive person in the park. After being told what do you want me to do for you it's nice to find that one person that is sympathetic even though she couldn't help. Do better Loyd Park

I Love this park and have been camping here for more than 20 years. The Rangers and all the staff are super. Nice spot to bring our 5th wheel and set up for the week to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The only thing they could improve on, is pets on a leash. In the last couple of years, there are so many dogs that people do not put on a leash. (which is one of the rules for the park). The Rangers drive by see the pets not on a leash and do not stop and enforce the rules. We also have a pet and he is on a leash the whole time we are at the park when we are outside. The only time he is off the leash is inside our 5th wheel. We never leave him outside alone. But, some other dogs that are not on a leash will wonder up in our spot, and this does sit well with him or us. Please enforce the dogs on leash rule, so everyone can have the spot they paid for free from other pets.Thank You
