This great museum captures the spirit of San José starting with the sculpture out front. The museum highlights local artists and the world of international artists who complete their works. I loved the painting and 3 D works The museum offers two small outdoor works each in a separate area to enjoy then in natural environment. The museum offers an interactive section and my favorite was the magnets on a moving plate. The ambiance is relaxed with no background noise just the conversations of the museumgoers Accessible entry vía ramp with entry and several steps Venue is accessible with wide open areas and elevator access. Street parking around nearby Cesar Chávez park is paid by app or credit card or coins, some spots with 30 minute access and some with 2 hour limit. Parking garage also available

I have walked by the San Jose Museum of Art many times. Since I had some time, I thought I should check it out. I agree with the others that it's not as big as it should be, and on my visit, they were changing the first floor exhibit, so only the second floor was open. There were some elementary school students taking a tour and they were very curious. I'm glad they are getting this kind of experience. She: Are you a student or teacher?Me: Yes, I am a teacher.Scored free entry which was really nice. The work of Kambui Olujimi was very interesting! There was even a video he created about his fascination with gravity. There was also an exhibit called Still in Motion, with various artists. I was there for about 45 minutes. There were some pieces that I gravitated to, and the work was interesting. Sometimes the large museums can be overwhelming without really absorbing the work.I walked around the gift shop but didn't buy anything. There's also a cafe which I didn't partake in. Again, it's a great space!

I have studied art for many decades. I visit art museums everywhere I travel. This collection seemed somewhat sparse to me. It was an OK way to spend some time as a tourist. But I once was enough for me. On the positive side, the museum honored my reciprocal membership card.

All around fantastic museum experience. To start with, the ticket booth offered every opportunity for a free ticket. The museum is well laid out, and perfect spot for a 2-hour visit. Not overwhelming but not underwhelming either. Bright, open corridors with fantastic artistic exhibits.
