Michie Tavern Museum & Gallery ·$$

In 1784, a cozy house in the small town of Charlottesville, Virginia, offered warm hospitality to weary travelers by providing food and accommodation. Two hundred years down the line, the descendants of the house continue the tradition and welcome visitors with the same affinity and friendliness of that era. Here, guests are invited to take an interactive tour of this historic site and travel back in history as one strolls through various well-preserved sections of the tavern. The dining serves a traditional Colonial feast. The tavern also accommodates private events, banquets and social functions. Also, there is a gift shop, metal smith store and vintage clothing store on the premises where you can take home souvenirs as a reminder of the great experience at the tavern. All in all, the old-world charm is hard to ignore and thus requires a visit during your trip to the city. Check website for your timings.

Had a great time at Michie Tavern, which was recommended by another RVer. The prices were pretty steep for a southern buffet lunch, but you get all of the ambience of eating in a 1700s tavern. The service was great, and the food was all good except for the sweet potatoes, which neither of us liked at all. The little shops were nice. They had lovely things in them. A tad pricey, but still nice.

What an amazing find! Thoroughly lovely Staff and ambience-sat on the rocking chair watching the sunset ( who can beat that) in an indian summer. The prices are insanely good and the food is great too. Not sure how anyone could have a negative experience here??? Shah is an absolute hoot, and Marco is just lovely !

The restaurant is grossly overpriced and food only mediocre. When you are greeted at the door you are informed that the cost of the buffet is $27, which is high for the very limited buffet, but that is not the true cost. In addition to that cost are taxes and restaurant fees of $8. Then there is the $7.50 for the bottled beverage (root beer). The BBQ was not very good compared to standard fare BBQ. Very disappointed!!! I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Wife and I came here for lunch after the Thomas Jefferson tour. The buffet consisted of baked chicken, fried chicken, barbecue pulled pork. Veggies were Black Eyed Peas, mashed potatoes, green beans, stewed tomatoes. Meal was fine for an average buffet type setting. Felt this was overpriced as soft drinks and desserts aren’t covered with the pricing. This will set you back at least $90 for lunch. atmosphere open room and employees were very attentive. would recommend another restaurant for a large family.

The nicest staff ever. Beautiful building. Stewed tomatoes were better than expected. If you didn’t come hungry for an all you can eat buffet, that’s on you. I believe I got what I paid for: good eating and ambience. I truly felt like I stepped back in time.
