Beach is VERY small, unfriendly locals, extremely difficult to get to. The rocks at the bottom of the stairs are extremely slippery and the waves often crash onto the stairs making it very dangerous.

This beach is terrible. The walk down is extremely dangerous as it requires climbing on rocks. Please avoid, especially for children and inexperienced climbers

Lived in the bay area for years but never take Santa Cruz seriously. Some good things surely come during this pandemic madness. Discovery of Pleasure Point was a blessing for us since we're having pandemic fatigue. Walking the public path while enjoying the breeze/waves was cooling/calming to the mind. Watching the surfers ride the waves was so exciting. Seeing people jogging/running/walking/biking is very inspiring. And the sea birds flying close just above the waves and diving for a catch was a sure wow moment to watch. Words cant say more. Stop the worry and make life livable again!

The addition of a concrete seawall to protect East Cliff Drive has transformed Please Point Beach from being a natural coastal cliff and beach to being something that is sort of manufactured like a retaining wall on the freeway. However, the paths, walls, and stairs are done tastefully, and will likely protect East Cliff from falling into the ocean for a few decades. Bikers and walkers will have a broad path to follow along the road, with frequent stairs that lead to the sandy beach. However, the beach is highly dependent on the state of the tide, and you may not have ANY beach at high tide. This is the ideal place to look at one of California's historic surf spots, with a dozen or more breaks along the 1 mile coastline. You'll also pass the late Jack O'Neill's house, and other local sights.

Parking of course is scarce but a small lot nearby is free and if you get there early, you can find a spot. Good for just a walk on the beach or on top of the cliff on the sidewalk.
