Though a bit of a silly name (Platypus is an homage to the Aussie founder, I believe), there certainly wasn't anything silly about a near perfect day with Casey, our driver and guide. Picked up (early) at our hotel in Sonoma mid-morning, we picked up four other couples and proceeded to a boutique spin-off of a corporate winery - nice tasting room, decent wines and great art work, Imagery Winery was a good start to the day. The second winery, Loxton, was the highlight of the tour, as the husband, wife and one employee worked a 5 acre farm with all the values and considerations that makes them a stand-out of Doing things the right way. We finished at Wellington, another, though larger producer, with pride and excellence, a hallmark of their beautiful setting and capable wines. Of special note, an excellent box lunch, made in Platypus' kitchens, was had out doors at Loxton. I like that the company keeps track of their guests, so they assure you of not going back to one of the 30+ wineries they visit - I also like that the driver picks the wineries for the day, and our excellent guide/driver/local/good guy chose wineries in close proximity, thus spending our time tasting on a relaxed schedule. A great value for a full day of comfort, convenience and conviviality. Having to pay tasting fees (or buying wine to waive the fee) was not overwhelming - in fact, there was never pressure to buy. Overall, an exceptional bargain for a perfect day in a remarkable place.

We had a great experience on our Sonoma wine tour. Our tour guide, Casey or Richard Casey was very knowledgeable about the area and wine. He made sure everyone was comfortable and had a pleasant time. I liked getting to meet new people from different areas and walks of life. It was also nice and stress free having someone else choose the wineries to visit for the day. All three wineries were somewhat small but they differed slightly in their philosophy. Our tour guide seemed to have a great relationship with every winery we visited and they treated us very well during the visits. The lunch provided was very good. If you purchased wine at the wineries, our tour guide took great care of retrieving it and transporting it for us. They even have shipping boxes available for purchase if needed. Timing of pick up and drop off went well. Overall it was a nice day spent in Sonoma and I highly recommend doing the tour.

We enjoyed this small group tour of Sonoma, it was a great way to meet people on vacation. Steve was an excellent host and took us to three wineries. Two of them were small operations that we would never have visited on our own, great to chat with them about their winery. Good to have a driver for the day too. Picked us up at our hotel on time, dropped us off at the door. We chatted w. different people during the day, it was a perfect day.

My husband and I did a wine tour with Platypus for the third time this past weekend. It was a perfect day, guided and planned by Stephen our tour guide, and included stops at 3 of the most beautiful wineries. We keep coming back to Platypus because they're simply the best and each tour is even better than the last! Also, lunch is delicious and they're really great at accommodating special diets.

Great tour. We visited 3 small wineries in Glen Ellen. Each winery had something different to offer -a tasting room and art gallery, great care information out amongst the vines and tasting in the barrel room, and tasting next to incredibly old vines. Linda was a fun driver. We definitely recommend this!
