The gallery in it's self is worth the visit, the brick walls, cast iron spiral stairs that go no where, and the lovely tiny garden at the back; oh yes and the modern art which is always cut edge. This has been a monthly favorite for many years. A must see of the art seen in Sacto.

SF Bay Area folks in Sacramento for 4/5 days to do the art scene and more. Interested in contemporary art, an artist friend told us that Sakata Garo was a must. This is a gallery owner with a very refined taste. The exhibition that we saw (Mel Prest) was very good and the list of prior and upcoming exhibitions impressive. Sakata Garo himself is rather an interesting (and garrulous) character. Very worthwhile and in a very walkable neighborhood.
