Grew up playing Volleyball at Paki Park and it brings back great memories to stop by whenever I return to Oahu to see family.

We took the grandkids here for a change from the beach. The 2 slides are small and one was broken and roped off. There are 4 swings pretty low to the ground; one of which was a baby swing. Our grandson had fun in that and his toddler sisters had fun pushing him. They used some of the climbing things as well but got bored with the small playground. It’s in the shade which was nice. It’s across the street from the zoo where the giraffes hang out so we got to see a couple of the tall giraffes eating leaves.

This is a nice, shady playground located near the Zoo. Lots of space to run, always lots of kids and families, nice swings. Some other reviewers seem to have an outsized concern about homeless people in the park, but it's a typical situation in Honolulu. Yes, sometimes homeless are in the park, but they keep to themselves and generally are away from the playground area. I have visited this park many times with my child and others and have never felt it was an issue.

Paki park does have a few homeless people. But most of them are pretty understanding when it comes to children. If asked they will gladly relocate to another area away from where the children are. As for the playground structures, it is currently awaiting badly needed repairs or replacement and has been barricaded due to safety reasons. The swings are also gone due to a law suit. The programs there are great. They have Tiny Tots (3-5 yrs) and senior citizens on Tuesday mornings. They also offer free or low cost after school classes for elementary children daily. So don't be so shy. The staff are very friendly. They are trying their best with what they have.

This park was located on a beautiful tree lined street close to schools and across the street from the Zoo with Giraffe's gazing over the fences at the children playing. Sounds awesome right...until you step across at least 10 homeless people using illegal drugs, drunk and passed out everywhere ;( our children wanted to play so badly we stayed for two minutes and all of the playground equipment is absolutely horrid and broken....I did not feel safe and highly recommend not visiting this playground.
