Pros: The hotel is in a great location. Within walking distance of the beach and restaurants and shops, even the marina for activities. There’s a cute little bar at the entrance with live music some nights Cons: The room itself was dirty. The walls were filthy and floorboards were disgusting. It needs a good deep cleaning. Even the tile in the bathroom was dirty and it’s a small bathroom. I can’t imagine how bad the carpet is. The bedding and towels were clean. But the overall room was kind of gross.

Stayed here for a week and overall had a good experience. The Equus has such a quaint, homey feel to it, and the location is fantastic, great walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and shops. The outdoor pool is small but pretty, and there's a little outdoor bar right at the entrance. You can tell they take eco friendly measures seriously too.Rene and Gwen deserve a special shoutout. They were phenomenal, so friendly and helpful the whole time we were there.A few things to keep in mind though. The lobby is very small, and parking can be tricky so plan ahead for that. You can pay for overnight covered parking too but we found free parking on street. This is an older hotel with only one elevator, so if you're on a lower floor stairs are probably faster. Our room's shower faucet was leaky and didn't have much pressure, and the room felt musty at times so we made sure to keep the door shut since it's humid outside. Some of the bottom boards in the room were also slightly coming off. Housekeeping made the bed but didn't change the sheets each time, and they never refilled the body wash, shampoo, or conditioner in the dispensers. After asking the third time they came by and did full service, so it was good. They said the pool closes at 7, but we saw a group in there past 8, so that policy doesn't seem to be enforced heavily. It's not quite a true 4 star experience compared to other places, but for Hawaii standards it's a great stay. Solid 3-4 star hotel overall and has all your bare minimum needs!

Boutique is best. Equestrian themed, casual and relaxing. Remarkable utilization of space. Quaint bar with very good food, coffee and cocktails. This location is fantastic. 5 minute walk to Ala Moana Center. 20 minute walk to Waikiki. Uber, bicycle or scooter. Short walk to beach. Loved it. Staff is friendly rooms are adequate.
