We spent the weekend and had a fantastic time. Booked a private charter with Captain David of Real Florida Boat Tours . We went the entire length of the river. 4.5 hours of breath taking views and crystal clear waters. Stay here!!! Fantastic weekend getaway!!!

By far one of the most beautiful big rig friendly Florida State Park campgrounds. Sites are the largest (HUGE), newest and cleanest of any state park we've ever stayed in. Stable Power, 50-30-20 amp, more than sufficient water pressure, small pebble gravel pads, and a few sites even had sewer though most were water/electric - a dump station is available. OTA TV was available. No Wi-Fi. ATT Cell Service was sufficient to stream movies. Sparkling clean restrooms and new Washer/Dryer ($1.75). We noticed most of the campers were very quiet big rig retirees as there was not much there for children. There is no swimming or fishing allowed on the Silver River which is over a mile hike or bike away from the campground loop, no wifi, no playgrounds in the loops but one was available in a separate area near a museum which is only open on weekends. All in all this made for a VERY QUIET campground. There are also two bedroom cabins available for rent which looked exceptional compared to other state parks. Numerous hiking/biking trails are available and very reasonable kayak rentals are available in SIlver Springs Park which is separate from the campground. Wildlife spotted included various species of birds, squirrels, gopher tortoises, numerous snakes daily, alligators and manatees on the river, even spotted a very skiddish monkey troop in the trees while hiking. At the park a Kayak trip on the Silver River or a Glass Bottom Boat Trip on the Silver River is an absolute must to capture the true beauty of this part of Florida. Plan on more than a one night stay - you won't be disappointed.

We learned in the park that Silver River has lost visitors due to Interstate Highways and the arrival of Disney. We were glad that our travelagent suggested a visit here. Quiet, interesting and a delightful tour on the river in a glassbottom boat, all under the kind and expert direction of captain Joe Mac, who provided all information we could have wished for. A treat for a relatively low price.

We stayed here for 3 nights in cabin 5 and had a very peaceful time. The cabins are really spacious with a large netted wooden terrace at the front & side with rocking chairs, picnic table and access to the back area fire pit. We are a family of 5 and had plenty of room. The cabin has linen & towels and cooking utensils. Everything was clean, basic & rustic but just fine for a brief camping trip. The glass bottom boat & kayaks are only accessed by car as they are at a different entrance which I was unaware when we booked as I thought the kids would be able to wander & hire a kayak. Nevertheless lovely peaceful place.

What can I say... I LOVE Silver Springs. We used to go there regularly when we lived in the area 40 years ago. They have turned it back into a place you can go and just enjoy the day for very little money. You can take a glass bottom boat ride, rent a kayak, take a walk in beautiful environment, or grab an ice cream, sit down and just watch people. The park is devided into 2 parts the south side had a neat museum and an old Florida village as well as hiking, camping, rental cabins etc. It is old Florida at it's finest and reasonably priced. Can't wait to go back.
