MoreNOT CHILD, PHOTOGRAPHY FRIENDLY— if I could give it 0 stars I would. This is directly in relation to my experience with the owner of this business. I hope she is having a better day now. Grab a glass, a snack or anything to keep you satiated. This review is going to be a long one but thorough. I will never support this business for any reason whatsoever but I will be on the look out for other businesses who provide the same experience but not by the same owner as this establishment. Hi, I am a new freelance photographer. Stay at home mom, trying to live out her dream of being able to get up everyday and do something I am truly passionate about. This morning I was set to do a photoshoot for another small business. They had gotten approval to shoot in the PlantBar on Holly Rd. For 30 minutes starting at 11 AM this Friday March 13, 2020. When I arrived there were a total of 4 ladies all unpacking plants they all smiled welcoming me, as I was asked why I was there I explained I am here for a photoshoot. I am the photographer, the client said they had approved it with a manager, blah blah blah. Immediately this tall, skinny red headed woman’s face immediately went to disgust. I was unsettled but decided to not let that set the tone for my day and get settled. Ask where to put the stroller, if this and that were okay. We kept being told by the manager that it was fine as long as no one was using the table we were on which they weren’t. I accidentally placed my lens on a table where there were people sat across the table. That will play in later. The tall woman proceeded to project, “you can’t be there, you can’t do that.” To the point my client and myself were so uncomfortable we left. Any person I accidentally knocked into I apologized immediately and tried to be more cautious. As I was walking out the red headed woman was watching every move we made. I already knew I would NEVER come back to this establishment. After we moved outside the shoot went flawlessly. I loved all the shots. They weren’t forced or awkward. etc. As I was leaving I decided to call to let the owner know if they had approved a photographer that they shouldn’t because it was so uncomfortable and definitely unwelcome. As I was on the phone with an assistant manager, not yelling, not cussing, not even trying to be ugly in any way. I am someone who loves plants I wish I could love and support this business. I have flowers and ferns tattooed on several parts of my body. unimportant. While on the phone without any notice the red headed woman was on the phone equally as aggressively blaming me that, it was a free shoot (the client had won a raffle, that doesn’t make my business a joke or not worth value.) also blaming me that my son in the stroller was a problem which he is 1.5 yr old. He would have broken every glass terrarium in the place. I was trying to be polite by containing my child. She then tells me she is the owner. I said. Okay if that is how you want to run your business that is fine. She said absolutely I do, you came in here demanding everything, with kids, taking photos across the tables. A photoshoot takes angles, time and set up. I have a professional business. You never came up and introduced yourself and said Hi I am the owner. You’re welcome to shoot but please don’t do x, y, z. Otherwise I would have had some indication of what was and wasn’t acceptable. Basically she hung up on me. Sum of the story. Do not bring children, they are not welcome. Do not plan to take photos in this establishment to any photographer or any media influencer. It is not photo friendly and expect to be watched and ridiculed for your actions. Check out Yelp for my full review. this has character limits. I just still can’t believe she never introduced herself or told me any rules if she was there and knew why I was there. It is a mystery to me and if you read this whole thing congrats it is FINALLY over. And I release all this toxicity.
MoreWalking in I expected to see some fairies flying around, it is such an enchanting little shop. Had a great time with mom and daughter. Reasonable prices, liked it even better than painting pottery and the mermaid factory.
MoreThis was one of the coolest places I visited while in VA Beach. This wonderful employee helped me with everything I could possibly imagine. I believe her name was Lakaylynn or something. She was tremendous. She even gave me advice on the new puppy we added to the family and it worked perfectly. Also, GREAT PLANTS. MAYBE THE BEST PLANTS IN THE STATE.
MoreLooking for a fun date-night activity, party for younger ones or excellent, afternoon with friends? If so, hit Plantbar! It's a blast. We called ahead to schedule a small party and received top notch service from the git-go. You can also just walk-in. There’s limited parking out front but only if you come during dinner hours because there are a few restaurants that share the parking lot. Our group appreciated the beverages, relaxed atmosphere and leaving with our “plant arrangements” and knowledge about air plants and succulents. We’ll be going again soon!
