Just to the north of the State Capital building on the Capital grounds there are a handful of war memorials dedicated to men and women of Texas who served in overseas wars, including this Texas World War II monument. If you have seen the WWII Memorial on the National Mall in Washington D.C. you will recognise the 17-ft tall, single granite column structure with bronze wreath. It is replica of State of Texas pillar and pays tribute to the 830,000 Texans who served the nation and the 22,000 who gave their lives during the war. Just in front of the monument is a Red Granite stand with plaque for those who wish to read about the Texas WWII Monument.
