This was truly a once in a lifetime experience and the highlight of our Alaska trip! I booked the trip to Katmai NP back in March on Fly Katmai/Anchorage Aero's website and picked a random date in August before building my entire weeklong trip around that date availability. I didn't know these trips book out so fast but glad I grabbed 2 slots. The online booking process was easy and straightforward. We did the direct flight from Anchorage to Katmai. I was nervous about the flight, having never been inside a floatplane before, but Dave -- our awesome pilot, is incredible -- and the entire roundtrip flight was smoother compared to a commercial airline. Smoothest take off and landing I've ever experienced, and the plane was roomier than I had imagined.We arrived in Katmai NP a little after 9 am, did a quick ranger security briefing, then off we went to explore. It's a 1.2 mile walk from the visitor center to the famous brook falls platform, so we hurried along to beat the crowds. We were able to spend 45 mins on the platform before the ranger warned everyone about overcrowding and did a sign up sheet around 11:00 AM. I thought that was ample time at the falls watching bears eat salmon. We spent time on the lower river platform and watched a momma bear and her cub. Lunch was included in Brooks Lodge, it was buffet style and delicious. We headed back around 2:15 PM, and got back to Anchorage a little after 4 PM. Dave was great at showing us some caribou on the glacier mountains on the way back. It was truly a memorable experience, and I thought they timed everything perfectly. I highly recommend Fly Katmai with Anchroage Aero!

This trip was amazing. The pilot Dave went out of his way to make sure another guest who was nervous about flying feel comfortable. We flew straight to Katmai & the flight was very smooth even with less than ideal weather in Anchorage. I didn’t expect to eat the free lunch originally, but I did end up using it & it felt like a very nice perk to have that available. On the way back we looked for caribou & got a close-up view of a volcano. It was a fantastic trip. I researched many options to get there, but I’m very happy to have chosen this company & would recommend it to others!

Outstanding experience with Fly Katmai for a day trip to Brooks. We flew direct from Anchorage to Brooks. The flight was smooth and the process easy. Our pilot Dave was great, showing us herd of caribou. I felt very safe and would use them again for a tour.

Anchorage Aero / Fly Katmai provided my wife and I with an outstanding experience. The pilot (Dave) and the ground support know the meaning of great hospitality and good service. First, we made the right choice when deciding to book our trip for August 2024 to Katmai Nat’l Park. The crowds that were there in July were gone giving us far more time and access to see the bears in August. The flight over and back to Katmai was so much fun as our pilot took us along the rivers so we could see bears during flight and also flew us right next to one of the volcanoes allowing us to see the steam vents blowing! It was by far the best day of our travels in Alaska. You must go with Anchorage Aero, and book in the month of August!

Incredible day. The flight was super smooth, as was the landing. Once you get off the plane and listen to the bear etiquette briefing, you’re free to walk around the lodge over to the falls at your own leisure. Saw many bears. Disclaimer- bring layers, particularly to have skin covered from the millions of flies who’ll hack at your skin if it’s exposed (bring insect repellent!!!!)
