I’m staying in Odessa currently for work and I’m staying at an IHG hotel somewhere else but decided to getaway with my wife for the weekend to a “nicer” hotel. 1st impression was the front desk hassling me for my military id for the rate i booked. I just so happened to leave my old wallet at the other hotel because i didn’t think i would need it throughout the weekend. But they made me dig through old photos trying to find a picture of it. I asked would they accept my DD214. They had no clue what that was. I asked to use my id.me account that verified my military status. They didn’t want that. So i finally found a picture okay. Got my room and when i walk in you can instantly see the blonde hair shining on the floor with this bright Odessa sunlight. Not just in one place..literally the whole wood floor. As if they mopped with a blonde wig or something. Black hair on the bed. And black hair on the toilet. And some empty fake nail kit on the floor next to the bed. Smh terrible. I called downstairs to ask for a different room preferably a one king bed with the same view. The lady had the nerve to try and charge me an extra $20 to move my room. I was like huh?! “Come up here and see this room. I shouldn’t even be charged this should be complimentary at this point”. She put me on hold and came back and told me she would do it this one time. Lol surprise there won’t be a second time. Won’t waste my time or money here again. BUT… very nice lobby/lounge areas and amenities though. Just terrible customer service and house keeping apparently. ‍♂️ Sorry i just expect better from Marriott.

I entered my room and was met by an AC unit so loud it sounded like a jet taking off. I asked to be moved to a different room and was rewarded with a $800 room damage charge. I guess they thought their bad maintenance was somehow related to the 5 minutes I spent in the room. Needless to say , they are off my list!!

We checked in and I had previously requested a quiet room away from the elevators. They put us right across from the elevators after I reiterated to them not by the elevators. Went back downstairs, got a new room right NEXT to the elevators. Had to go back down again and show them a map & explain to them not anywhere by the elevators yet again. During this time, a “security” officer named Brian was behind the desk. He asked us if we liked the superbowl halftime show. We said yes we loved it. He said “seriously? You couldn’t even understand a word he said because it wasn’t in English.” I told him that was a racist comment (we are white). He got really mad and started arguing with me, saying condescending and rude remarks. He continued to argue with me until his coworkers had to physically take him to the back. He then came back out, went to the bar, and just stared at us. I spoke with Maria who was very kind and said she would speak with him. This is not someone who should work as a “security” officer nor in hospitality. We won’t be back. I slept with pepper spray on my nightstand because he was very angry.

I checked in on business. I tried to use our Corp. rate. The lady at the front desk and the supervisor both say you need to apply that when you are booking. I have never needed to when booking from San Fran to Miami. Or Singapore. This is a stupid rule only this location has.
