Papa Haydn Northwest American Restaurant ·$$

Such is the popularity of this Northwest Portland institution that it's difficult to obtain a table here at the last minute. Taking its name from a celebrated Viennese composer, Papa Haydn serves up an excellent selection of American comfort food in an elegant environment. The menu is diverse and offers a superb selection of meat and seafood entrees along with a good choice in sandwiches and salads. Try the Albacore Pasta, the carbo-lover's delight. Be sure to sample one of their famous desserts, like the berry tart. Enjoy a cup of steaming coffee or a drink from the full-service bar. Feel free to enjoy a lighter meal in the adjacent Jo Bar and Rotisserie.

I have visited both locations many times and generally always have a decent time. I visited Papa Hayden this afternoon around 3:30 p.m. with the intention of picking up desserts to go before...

This place always nails dessert, but I finally tried their breakfast/brunch, and wow, it was seriously good! The French toast? Absolutely divine - melted in my mouth and perfectly sweet without...

My napkin and my fork were dirty when I sat down at the table which I don't mind but it was a bad start to this experience. They tried to seat us in the back uglier section of the restaurant even...
