tripadvisorThe castle and grounds were interesting. We walked to a pond and the beach. Dogs weren't allowed on the beach, but everyone seemed to be taking their dogs out on the beach anyway. I'm not complaining because I love dogs, and all the dogs were leashed and well behaved. We had to pay for admission to the grounds, and the museum was extra on top of that, so I'm not sure if we felt like it was worth the cost for us, but it was really popular the day we were there, so it seems to be worth it for a lot of people.
MoreWe went for the princess event. I highly recommend it. Beautiful grounds, lots of parking. Easily accessible bathrooms. Fantastic park.
MoreCastle Goud and Beach Area were nice and relaxing including the garden walk. The $15 entrance fee can be a bit too much if you happen to want to only stay for less than hour. If you take the trail walk down to the sand beach and use the restrooms within the castle and sit for awhile in the Air conditioned Castle then its worthwhile. Ideally its at most maybe 2 hours of worth of time in the conservancy.
MoreWe came here for my wife’s birthday on a weather perfect day snd never realized the beauty of snd historical significance of thus okace. Once home to the Guggenheim dynasty and now a 280 acre preserve consisting of three large granite castles and homes a subsequent generations of the family. Finally it was donated to nddsy county and in addition to the homes there’s a large fig or/tun, picnic areas and guided tours. Perfect spitfire a family outing or a historical tour and is a venue gur many marriages . A truly eye opening experience fur us.
MoreI went to the Sands Point Preserve for my birthday and I loved it! There are so many things to do and it was a beautiful day. First the main parking lot is huge with tons of spots available overlooking the beautiful main castle and cobblestone walkways. As you walk around there are many trails some of which that lead to the stunning beach with soft sand and rocks. You can even see Connecticut across the sound. There are huge rocks on the beach in front of a wall, which during the afternoon, provides shade. There is a nice gazebo next to a pond which was the perfect area to have a picnic in the shade. It was lovely. After that, we went to the Hempstead House. I was looking forward to this the most and it blew my expectations away. The house is an amazing representation of the Historic Gold Coast and old money on the North Shore. It is huge and overlooks the water with stunning gardens and a park with shady spots. There are other castles too which unfortunately you need tours for. Other than that, I highly recommend Sands Point Preserve. It’s great for families!
