So coming from San Diego and having countless live theatre options at my finger tips, I quickly realized after moving to Salem that I'd have to get used to not having much to choose from in regards to theatre. I've seen several plays at Pentacle and had a well enough time, seen an opera in Portland too, but it just wasn't enough. I had even scoured Trip Advisor for nearby live theatres and did not come up with anything I wasn't already aware of. Then by chance I stumbled upon Willamette's program and decided to give it a try. And wow. Such talent they have! Vincent in Brixton has been my favorite production thus far, but almost equally wonderful was the Fridah Kahlo performance they had earlier this year. I have been so impressed by not only the acting, but the sound, set, and staff as well. This theatre really deserves more recognition than it gets. The seating is small and intimate (there are no bad seats) you can buy your tickets ahead of time online through their website, there are bathrooms (clean and surprisingly beautiful). Not really a snack bar so bring your own small snack for intermission.
