Sitar Niketan is one of the most reputed Indian classical instrumental music schools in the Wash DC area. Students learn to play sitar in the traditional techniques and methods of the Indian classical instrumental music with 'raags' ( melody) and 'taals' ( rhytmic cycle). Laila composes the music for her students to make the complex Indian classical raags easily comprehensible for students. The Individual sitar lessons offered here help in the growth of each student according to their specific needs. Group classes and group performance rehearsals help in creating bonding and harmony among students. Students get a chance to collaborate and perform with other instruments, including western instruments, playing INDIAN classical music. Sitar tuning and maintenance classes help students to learn how to take care of their sitars. Students get to expand their musical horizon by attending lecture demonstrations and guest musician performances hosted by Sitar Niketan.
